Oh why did I say 'no garage'?!! I'm back with a smell of petrol in the boot, so lucky me I think I'm tracing another fault. ...

Fuel tank, geometry, brake testing

The fuel tank is back in, and I've topped it back up to full. No whiff of petrol at the moment, although I'll do a sniff test in th...

Fuel tank checks, interior padding

As I've mentioned before, I had a fuel tank issue and traced it to the earth connection. This is what tracing a leak with flourescent f...

About Me

Slimyroadster
I am a DIY builder in the Midlands, who always wanted to build a car ever since my first visit to Stoneleigh many (many!) years ago. I finally got my opportunity to make a start when we had our house extension built and I was able to request a garage. My ideal build would have been a Lamborghini of some kind but without the funds for one of those cars I had to look elsewhere. At one show there was a demonstrator car for an Austin Healey 3000 replica, but using a Seven-esque chassis. The body was about a grand, and I saw it as an opportunity to get a 'classic' car without the hassle or funds. Of course, as with any builds there is still hassle. Especially as the body is based on an MK rather than a Haynes Roadster. In turn, the Haynes Roadster is based on Sierra rather than MX5. So I very rapidly moved into unknown territory. The build started in February 2013, and the car passed IVA in February 2026.
