About Me

Slimyroadster
I am a DIY builder in the Midlands, who always wanted to build a car ever since my first visit to Stoneleigh many (many!) years ago. I finally got my opportunity to make a start when we had our house extension built and I was able to request a garage. My ideal build would have been a Lamborghini of some kind but without the funds for one of those cars I had to look elsewhere. At one show there was a demonstrator car for an Austin Healey 3000 replica, but using a Seven-esque chassis. The body was about a grand, and I saw it as an opportunity to get a 'classic' car without the hassle or funds. Of course, as with any builds there is still hassle. Especially as the body is based on an MK rather than a Haynes Roadster. In turn, the Haynes Roadster is based on Sierra rather than MX5. So I very rapidly moved into unknown territory. The build started in 2013, but I'm still going in 2024... the end is in sight though.
